Favorite Summer School 2019 | Dynamic Methods for whole Building Energy Assessment | 9 – 20 SEPTEMBER 2019, Granada, Spain

After 7 very successful editions of the Summer School on “Dynamic methods for whole building energy assessment” the organisers have decided to offer, in collaboration with the University of Granada, a two-weeks doctoral course that focuses more on pragmatic application of dynamic calculation techniques, meaning that the analysis of building energy data is of high importance and can give potentially high value information to utility and end-user. The focus will be on increased complexity, presenting different approaches and application to benchmark data. The cost for the two-weeks Summer School is 475 Euro. In case that the participant decides to follow the course for one week, either Level 1 or Level 2, the cost is 290 Euro. Participants should do a pre-registration by sending a notification to Marta Ruiz, e-mail: mruiz.serviciosexternos@psa.es

Favorite Outcome of the Summer School 2018

Outcome of the 7th Summer School on “Dynamic methods for whole building energy assessment” organised by the INIVE-DYNASTEE and PSA-CIEMAT in collaboration with CIESOL (Joint Centre University of Almeria-CIEMAT dedicated to research in Solar Energy and its applications), in Almería, Spain. The focus has been more on pragmatic application of developed dynamic calculation techniques to support the analysis of building energy data that is of high importance and can give potentially high value information to utilities and end-users. The focus this time has been on increased complexity and variability, and several approaches have been applied to benchmark data.

Favorite Outcome of the Summer School 2017 in Granada, Spain

A warm welcome to the participants by Josemaría Manzano Jurado, director of School of Architecture from the University of Granada (founded in 1531) and Delfina Bastos González, academic secretary of the School was followed by a tour in the beautiful renovated old building in the centre of the city.

After 5 very successful editions of the Summer School on “Dynamic methods for whole building energy assessment” this time the focus was on pragmatic application of these dynamic calculation techniques. The main purpose of this summer school was to train a methodology for evaluation of measured data. Five enthusiastic lecturers have presented methodologies in more than 10 presentations for assessing the heat transfer characteristics of building envelopes using data for hands-on exercises. During the summer course, information on relevant software has been given. For the practical exercises the software tool LORD has been applied on benchmark data as well as routines in the R-environment. More than half of the participants submitted prior to the course their homework which revealed that most of them have problems with assessing the thermal capacitance. This was the reason for a special lecture on how to deal with techniques for separating the static aspects from the dynamics. Discussed has been a more advanced course as a follow-up of this Summer School School that may take place during the summer of 2018.

For the social mid-week event, a visit to the Salobreña Castle on the Mediterranean coast was organised followed by a dinner with all participants and lecturers on the terrace of a typical Spanish taberna.

When and where?

The venue for the Summer School is for the second time in Granada, at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Granada and takes place from Monday 3 until Friday 7 July, 2017.

Objective

The main purpose of this summer school is to train a methodology for evaluation of measured data. Favorite Outcome of the Summer School 2016 in Granada, Spain

Another successful Summer School on Dynamic Calculation Methods for Building Energy Assessment has taken place from 19-24 June, 2016 in lovely and inviting Granada, Spain.

A record number of 34 participants from all over the world gathered at the Civil Engineering School, University of Granada, nearby the famous Alhambra, to get trained in methodologies for assessment of building energy performance. Participants came from Japan, China, South-Korea, Mexico, Canada, Lebanon and from 14 European countries. Most of them were PhD or post-doc students and many are involved in IEA-EBC projects.

The event was opened by Professor Montserrat Zamorano Toro, director of the Civil Engineering School of the University of Granada. Many thanks go to her Department as well as to Professor Diego Pablo Ruiz Padillo of the Applied Physics School. The introductory presentation was made by Paul Baker, invited speaker and expert on in-situ measurements and analysis. SUMMER SCHOOL 2014 1 – 5 September 2014, Leuven, Belgium

For the 3rd consecutive year, DYNASTEE is organising with collaboration of universities, national research organisations and industry, a Summer School on the topic of Dynamic Calculation Methods for Building Energy Assessment.

Today, more and more data related to building and building components originate from outdoor testing under time-varying and dynamic conditions, or from real life use of buildings. The main purpose of this summer school is to train the students in a methodology for evaluation of measured data. PhD students might be interested to know that 2.5 ECTS are awarded for attendance at this Summer School and a further 2.5 ECTS for additional work on a proposed exercise or centred on the students’ own projects.

Summer School now fully booked

The Summer School that will take place in Copenhagen 18-22 June, has registered 30 participants and reached the maximum number of participants. This is considered as a first successful step. In a couple of weeks the information and preparation documents package will be mailed to all participants.
